We know how confusing it can be to come up with a whole skincare routine, especially when there are so many steps involved. In this article, we curated an easy-to follow skincare routine for those with acne-prone skin type:
Step 1 - Cleansing
While it is common for many K-beauty routines to include double cleansing (one oil-based cleanser/balm to remove makeup and one water based foam/gel) we consider cleansing collectively as Step One. Our recommendation uses a gentle pH 5 oil and paraben-free formula to help control excess sebum and rejuvenate your skin. Purifying Foam Wash will protect skin from drying, and leave behind fresh, silky-soft skin. Remember, if your current cleanser is leaving you with a “squeaky clean and dry” feeling that means it is stripping your face of all the oils and necessary microbiome that keeps your skin healthy. Do your face a favor and get a gentle and functional cleanser instead.
Step 2 - Exfoliation
Did you know that our skin cells have a turnover cycle of 28 days? That makes it so important to exfoliate the dead skin off your face and let the new cells celebrate their glow up! You can use a mild chemical exfoliator using AHA, BHA or PHA which will gently remove excess dead skin cells, oil and wastes and provide the new baby skin cells more room to “breathe.” Our overwhelming favorite Team pick is Ceramine Botanical Peeling Gel, which you can use to exfoliate 1-2 times per week for acne-prone skin to help increase your glow, slough off unnecessary dead layers, and increase the absorption of your follow-up skincare steps.
Step 3 - Clay Mask
One of the most effective ways to make sure your pores are right and tight, especially when you are looking to control sebum and oil production, is to use a clay mask to help give those pores a deep-clean. If you’ve had a prior experience of a clay mask leaving your face tight and dry after use, have no fear: Eunogo’s pick is the Ceramine Transforming Clay Mask that will not dry out your face, instead, leaving your skin hydrated, brightened, and excess oil controlled. Just check out the reviews! For acne-prone skin this clay mask step can be used up to 2-3 times per week, so let’s get to it!
Step 4 - Toner
Gone are the days when toner used to be astringent and strip your face of all the oils your skin needs to regulate sebum. Welcome to the modern age of toners, where we use them to calm our skin, give it extra hydration, and even help prime your face so that makeup sets more beautifully! Our favorite toner for those with acne-prone skin uses Centella Asiatica, Blue Agave extract, and Madecassoside to moisturize and balance your skin. Ceramine Dual Balance Toner helps normalize your skin's condition by lowering the skin temperature and adjusting the PH to slightly acidic, which is an ideal condition for maintaining your skin's microbiome.
Step 5 - Spot Treatment
The latest and greatest product that we curated at Eunogo Shop is the Ceramine Derma Concentrating Balm, which soothes inflamed skin and irritated skin, regulates excess sebum production, reduces the appearance of pores, and boosts overall moisture. This soothing balm also treats contact dermatitis caused by frequent use of surgical masks. Contains MultiEx BSASM™, a combination of 7 kinds of plant extracts, an effective agent for atopic dermatitis, psoriasis and acne. Use this as a spot treatment for your problem areas and watch the improvement unfold. Pro Tip: the Concentrating Balm can also be used all over your face together with the Ceramine Aqua Mask Pack to help with hydration.
Step 6 - Sheet Mask
This step that can be done from daily basis to 1-2 times per week, whenever you feel like your skin needs a little extra boost. Please keep in mind that even though you may have oily or acne-prone skin, it is important to hydrate to maintain balance to prevent breakouts and achieve glowing skin. Team Eunogo recommends a plant-based sheet mask like the Ceramine Aqua Chamaecyparis Obtusa Sheet Mask the with immediate soothing and moisturizing effects, to really elevate your routine. Best of all? One box contains 10 sheets making it a great value. Once you’ve finished with the mask please remember to let all the essence absorb before moving on to the next step. Giving your skin a light “tap tap tap” with your fingertips will help absorption and, frankly, feels great.
Step 7 - Cream
Now that you’ve given your skin all the nourishment and calming that it deserves, lock in the moisture and all those ingredients with a lightweight hydrating cream! When searching for an excellent moisturizer, keep Hyaluronic Acid (“HA”) in mind as a key ingredient. If you don’t already know, Hyaluronic Acid’s main job is to hydrate, hydrate, and then hydrate some more! For your acne-prone skin Team Eunogo recommends OxygenCeuticals Moisture Aqua Serum to seal the deal. Not only is it light and airy, but it absorbs quickly and gives your face a glowing (not oily) finish.
Step 8 - SPF
We know, we know, we said 7 Steps but this one is only for daytime, so please forgive us. If there is one step you cannot, and we mean CANNOT skip, it is applying Sunscreen on a daily basis. You can read more about it here but please take our word for it: SPF is indispensable. For acne-prone skin Team Eunogo recommends two SPF options: tinted and untinted. The Rovectin Anti-Irritant Defense Tinted Sunscreen has a velvet finish and gives a tone-up look to your complexion without any white cast. It is also great for sensitive and spot-prone skin. Oxygenceuticals’ TP (Total UVA/UVB Protection) Sun Cream is fast absorbing and provides a smooth layer under makeup. These two are both winners in our eyes!
