I Tried a Korean Glass Skincare Routine for 7 Weeks

Zhenia from Eunogo tried a simple Korean Glass Skincare Routine for 7 weeks. Let's check out how it turned out!

If you have at all been into K-Beauty trends over the past few years then you know that “Korean Glass Skin” is highly sought-after but difficult to properly achieve. The appearance of having an effortlessly-glowing face is easy to imitate but difficult to duplicate. These days the internet is filled with hundreds of products claiming to give the users the famous “Korean Glass Skin” effect, but do they really work?

Fortunately (or unfortunately), I had some time during the Covid lockdown period to find out. The 8-week “Circuit Breaker” period, as it was called here in Singapore, resulted in my being able to constantly see the state of my skin during the day, and the effects that stress which came along with working from home while juggling two kids doing e-learning and lack of proper sleep had on it. Towards the end of Circuit Breaker I looked at myself in the mirror and thought, “When did my face start looking like a potato?” It was not great. See for yourself.

Before I embarked on my "Glass Skin" journey...

At that point, EunogoShop had just begun carrying OxygenCeuticals products in Singapore - their claim to fame is that over 500 professional skin clinics in South Korea use this line. In case this statistic doesn’t stand out as impressive to you, it should. That’s a lot of clinics who trust this brand with their clients’ skin. I was also encouraged by the fact that this line is made for people with sensitive skin, so that, even though my skin isn’t sensitive, I knew the products would be gentle enough to use and wouldn’t have me breaking out in a weird rash in the middle of a global pandemic.

After consulting with Eunogo’s Skincare Concierge, I bought three products to help overhaul my sad looking face. First, the Daily Botanicals Enzyme Peel, featuring fermented papaya enzyme, which helps remove dead surface skin cells gently and even skin tone for a radiant complexion. The natural botanical enzymes work to leave you with soft and smooth skin and assist in improved absorption of serums and moisturizers.

This is important because it lays the foundation for the second and third products I purchased: the Caviar Protein Fluid and the Moisture Aqua Serum, which, when combined, help create the “Glass Skin” effect. The Caviar Protein Fluid is a gel-serum that contains 5 natural herbs and Russian Caviar. I “squeeeed” out loud when I received the package and saw that yes, indeed, I will be putting real caviar on my face. Divine luxury! The serum gives the skin a silky-smooth texture while reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

The Aqua Serum is a light texture hydrating moisturizer that easily absorbs and instantly moisturizes your skin through the power of hyaluronic acid (HA). If you know anything about HA, you’ll know that its main job is to hydrate your skin! I used these consistently for 7 weeks both during and after Circuit Breaker restrictions were lifted and, based on the amount of compliments I received about my skin? I’d say this was a great success. Let’s dive into the details.

Daily Botanicals Enzyme Peel

The Good: After Circuit Breaker ended I went back to working out daily at my gym and this peel couldn’t have arrived at a better time. First, if you are a person who loves to feel the product working its magic, this is the peel for you. As soon as you put it on you can feel it tingling and getting rid of all the gunk and grime that has built up in your pores, especially me who sweats a lot at the gym and every time I step out in Singapore’s scorching heat and humidity. Once you massage it off 3 minutes later, the effects are instant: my complexion was brighter, and skin texture felt smooth and silky!

The Bad: This product is called Daily Botanical Enzyme Peel but I feel like that’s misleading because you shouldn’t be using it daily. It is incredibly effective when used once or twice a week, depending on how your skin is feeling. This leads me to my next point: this product is on the pricey side at $75SGD. However, given that you will only be using it 1-2 times a week, and the fact that a little bit goes a long way, this is a long-term investment! If you watch my video review, you will see that the amount I managed to use over a period of 7 weeks is negligible in relation to how much is left inside the bottle.

The Ugly: When massaging this product off the face, it gets quite messy. Make sure you are doing this either over the sink or in the shower to avoid a huge mess like I did the first time I used it. Oops!

Caviar Protein Fluid

The Good: Did I mention this has caviar in it? Because it has caviar in it! Caviar, baby! So luxurious! Obviously this was what attracted me originally to the product. However, I must say that the product itself is stunning. The packaging is sleek, the smell is refreshing and clean 9and slightly addictive), and most importantly, this stuff works. After consistently using it twice a day every day for 7 weeks, my complexion became brighter and healthier looking. Once lockdown ended and we were able to meet up again with friends I had numerous compliments about my glowing skin! It didn’t do that on its own!

The Bad: To be honest, I can’t think of anything bad to say about the Caviar Protein Fluid except that compared to others who had purchased its ister product, the Skin Barrier Fluid, I think my “glass skin” effect wasn’t as dramatic. I am almost out of the Caviar Fluid (I used it a ton) and currently debating whether to purchase another one or try the Skin Barrier Fluid the second time around.

The Ugly: I’ll say this: caviar should not be cheap, and this product is no exception. At $140SGD, it was the most expensive “skinvestment” I’ve made in a very long time. However, I am not disappointed. The product worked super well and I am not sorry. I would recommend it to anyone who cares to listen!

Moisture Aqua Serum

The Good: The Aqua Serum is a really lightweight moisturizer and, like the Enzyme Peel, a little bit goes a long way. I layered it on after the Caviar Fluid would absorb, and it added a nice thin layer of moisture to my face, completing the “glass skin” look. The scent is very neutral so it doesn’t compete with the freshness of the Caviar Fluid and the hyaluronic acid definitely works hard - my skin looks supple and plump! I have half a bottle still left, so if I purchase a Skin Barrier Fluid next, I can make my own “Anti-Aging Glass Skin” Kit from products I already have at home!

The Bad and the Ugly: Actually, I would say there’s no bad or ugly with the Moisture Aqua Serum. It’s a super solid product, and for the amount of serum that you get, it is a superb investment. I’ve used other moisturizing creams before where they never felt like they absorbed properly. It almost felt like a mask on my face! This is the complete opposite - light and effective!

Final Thoughts

Amazed at how much I was glowing from within!

Overall, you can see from my Before/After pics that I look and feel more confident in my skin. And that is the most important thing! You can watch my full review video on youTube to see how to use these products. Have you tried a Korean Glass Skin routine? Tell us in the comments below!
